Garryn Tvedt and Norm Bellows from Northwest Farm Credit Services presented a $50,000 check to the Broadus VFD recently. This money will be used to pay for architectural design (required by the government) for the planned fire hall and multi-purpose building, which is planned to be built on the empty lot kitty corner across from Cottonwood Park, to the southeast. Assistant Fire Chief Clint Pedersen, along with Fire Chief Raymond Ragsdale informed us that plans for the building are not only to house the fire hall; a multi-use building is in the works, with potential for becoming a tornado shelter, commodities distribution point, temporary shelter for stranded travelers, a community rentable hall combined with a training room for the VFD, and possibly a room for the senior center. The final design is dependent on grant opportunities and donations, and will be a multi-year project.

A second large donation was recently made by Faith Bible Church in the amount of $3,270, which was used for a new pump on a wildland fire rig.
