Superintendent's Report

By Broadus Schools Superintendent Jim Hansen

March 6, 2023

On one of my recent Farm in the Dell visits one of the residents was extremely upset their television provider was not able to broadcast the playoff football game due to contractual negotiations with FOX sports.

They decided to complain to their provider and were put on hold with an expected wait time of 30 minutes.

I couldn’t help but wonder how long it would take to speak with a representative if I wanted to purchase a subscription, so I made the call. After 15 seconds I was speaking with a representative who was eager to sell me a subscription.

At the beginning of the school year I discussed the importance of realizing we are in the service industry.

In any service industry there will always be obstacles and differences of opinion. Schools are working with our most important resource, and part of our job is being willing to answer that difficult phone call or have that challenging discussion. We certainly are not a multi-billion dollar television provider, but I would hope our constituents appreciate that we are there to pick up the phone.
