Twelve Hawk wrestlers traveled to Billings, Montana on Friday, March 17th.

The weekend was filled with action packed wrestling, and we had seven wrestlers place. The Barnhart brothers both did well in their division with Jesse placing second, and Tizer had to fight his way back on the consolation side finishing 6th.

Sophie Ostendorf walked through her competition as she has all year and found herself in a dog fight for first and second place. She fell short of her goal of completing the season undefeated, and took home second place, ending her season with only one loss.

Myla Gatlin had one of the most exciting brackets to watch. Every match was hard fought and all her matches went all three periods, showing her glory and determination. Myla ended up finishing third for the weekend.

The story of the weekend goes to the Kinzer family, taking three to state and all of them placing. Hazel Kinzer had a hard-fought battle overcoming many challenges physically and mentally. She took home fourth place.

Bonita Kinzer entered her second tournament of the season and walked away with second place.

Reuben Kinzer came in with experience, confidence and knowledge and walked out as an AAU State Champion, which also qualified him for the Iowa duals, which he plans on attending. Other locals who wrestled tough and left it all on the mat were Cole and Cody Draine, Sawyer Ostendorf, Monte Goggin, and Tyler Jurica.

Thank you for all the support you have given these wrestlers and coaches all season long!
