Golden Eagle Bounty Stops on March 25th

Warren Linville, Deputy State Game Warden for Powder River and Carter counties, said Monday that the bounty for golden eagles in Powder River and Carter counties would stop on March 25. The fish and game department who sponsored the bounty payment believe that 300 of the golden eagles will have been killed by that time. Up until Monday of this week 234 eagles have been turned in for bounty payment. Ninety percent of those eagles were killed by hunters in airplanes. On three occasions the pilots of the planes saw the eagles attacking antelope. All of the eagles were killed in Carter County.

Wrestlers Recognized at Awards Ceremony

By Head Hawk Coach Derrick Tvedt

On March 16, the Hawk Wrestling team, parents, and supporting fans gathered to recap a successful season. During the season the Hawks had many accomplishments and brought home numerous awards. As a team, the Hawks brought home four teams trophies along with numerous individual awards for placing.

The Awards Night began with the coaching staff bragging about each individual wrestler. They talked about things such as Will (Streetbrawler) Page having a 27-11 record with 20 of those wins coming by pin, to lead the Hawks in pins. Chris (Gunner) Gnerer led his team in takedowns with 51, just three shy of the school record that he set last year. Micah (Hollywood) Mathieson was recognized by the coaching staff for his ability to lead a team through example of hard work and dedication (not to mention his own ability to win).

Special awards for the night went as follows: Chris Gnerer - Season Takedown Leader; Will Page - Most Inspirational Wrestler; Travis Quiroz - Most Improved Wrestler; Curtis Damm - BAGUBA Award (Brutally Aggressive Guy Uninhibited by Adversity); Micah Mathieson - MVP.
