Monday, May 15, 2023

Commissioner John Olson called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioners Lori Fortner was present and Lee Randall was absent.

Commissioners reviewed and approved the consent agenda.

The minutes of the May 8, 2023, commissioner proceedings were read, approved, and ordered published.

The commissioners conducted administrative duties and approved Bill Gay to level and add sand to the arena and taper, so water runs off.

The board then contacted K Park Recreation to discuss the delivery of the fairground bleachers. The company will contact the commissioners again on May 18 to discuss a final delivery date.

Don Birkholtz met with the board to express concerns regarding the MT. Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Birkholtz would like the county to remove the word Cemetery from MT. Olivet and consider it a section.

The commissioners then adjourned the meeting and left to attend a bbq luncheon at Powder River Manor for nursing home week.

The board will reconvene Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Commissioner Chair Lee Randall called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s office, Powder River County Courthouse. Commissioners Lori Fortner and John Olson were present.

Commissioners reviewed and approved the consent agenda.

The minutes of the May 15, 2023, commissioner proceedings were read, approved, and ordered published.

The board conducted an interview for a Recycle Center operator.

Brandon Duffy and Teel Mullanix met with the board to discuss the Moorhead Bridge Project and the MDT scouring plan. Duffy reported that Great West Engineering has requested an extension on the scouring plan to get more data and they are waiting for additional information. Duffy then reported on the Belle Creek Road Project (FLAP Grant). He reported the bentonite has increased in price from $65.00/ton to $99.00/ton.

The CDBG Grant (CIP) Zoom meeting began with the commissioners and Brandon Duffy present and Cody Ferguson, Craig Erickson, Angela Mendoza, and Alisha Ollerman present via Zoom. Duffy reported Great West Engineering will be doing most of the work and likely need an architect for the CIP for the buildings.

The safety committee meeting was held with commissioners, Teel Mullanix, Paige Powell and Cynde Jo Gatlin present.

Tim Fortner stopped in to visit with the commissioners.

The board adjourned at noon and Commissioners Lori Fortner and John Olson attended the Weed Board meeting at 1:00 p.m. in the Extension office.

The board will reconvene Monday, May 22, 2023.
