Mina Mader Chapman

Mina Maurine (Mader) Chapman went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2023 in Cheyenne, WY.

Mina was born to Tom and Maurine Mader in Gillette, WY. on February 11, 1940. She grew up on the Mader Ranch in S.E. Montana, graduating from Powder River High School in Broadus, MT. and Black Hills State College in Spearfish, SD.

She taught school in Southeastern Montana and Northern Wyoming for many years. She preferred to teach rural schools as she was able to write her own plans and personalized each student's lesson plan.

She worked with students individually if they struggled and made certain they all could read well as reading was her specialty!

She worked with students on the autism spectrum, hearing impaired, and some with physical disabilities. She tutored a young man who spent more than a year in a coma and had to relearn everything and she brought him up to speed so he could graduate with his high school class. She wrote music for each instrument for her school, clarinet, sax, guitar, accordion, violin, xylophone, and autoharp.

Later, she gave lessons in piano, fiddle/violin and guitar. She truly cared about each student and she touched many lives. She also worked with the disabled, teaching living and working skills at Goodwill.

In later years she moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to be near family.

In 2014 she turned her life over to the Lord and started attending Miracle Valley Church and was baptized there. She was honest, kind, caring, hard-working, brave, fiercely independent, a good friend, a wonderful teacher and a blessing to her family.

Mina was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and a nephew. She is survived by 2 brothers; Doug of Tulsa, OK. and David of Biddle, M.T., 1 sister; Patsy Sabra of Omaha, NE., 2 daughters; Cheryl Sestak of Cheyenne, WY., and Donna Anderson of Kimball, NE., 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held graveside at the Bowers Creek Cemetery at 10:00 AM on August 5, 2023.

A lunch will follow at the Faith Bible Church in Broadus (Edit: this was previously set to be held at the Biddle Heritage Center in Biddle.)
