West Nile Detected In PR County

Powder River County has had it's first case of West Nile Virus detected in a horse. This was reported to Public Health last Friday.

As of 9/8/2023, Montana has WNV activity reported in 23 different counties.

DPHHS has reported 26 human cases of WNV this season. Of the cases, 11 have been classified as neuroinvasive. 8 cases of WNV have been identified through blood donation.

Two people have been hospitalized in Billings with severe West Nile Virus symptoms.

Additionally, 13 cases of WNV have been reported in horses by the DOL.
