HELENA, Mont. -- As the looming shadow of cyber threats grows, businesses in Montana are called upon to assess their cybersecurity readiness and apply for remaining Montana Cybersecurity Program grants to enhance or develop their cybersecurity plans.

The Montana Cybersecurity Program, administered by the Montana Department of Commerce, is committed to fortifying the digital defenses of small to medium-sized businesses across the state. Only half of the program's funding remains, making this a critical moment for eligible businesses to act and ensure the security of their operations.

“We know that small businesses are often the target of cyberattacks,” said Scott Osterman, Director of the Montana Department of Commerce. “That’s why the Montana Department of Commerce is excited about extending the Montana Cybersecurity Program to continue to provide funding that directly assists our small to medium-sized businesses with cybersecurity monitoring and security.”

Michael Marsh, president of Midland Claims Service in Billings, emphasized the program's value. "As a claim administrator responsible for tens of thousands of Montana workers' compensation claims, individual and medical privacy, along with insurance, privacy is mandatory. The Montana Cybersecurity Program allowed us to reach a much higher comfort level regarding our outward-facing systems."

All small to medium-sized businesses in Montana are encouraged to develop a cybersecurity plan and apply for up to $8,000 in related grant funding.
