High School Track Touches Down In Laurel

April 11, 2024

While some members of the Broadus Track Team were away at FFA in Billings, the remaining members of the team competed in a meet in Laurel, last week. Broadus competed against a number of Class B schools at the meet, as well as Class C schools such as Manhattan Christian – a perennial powerhouse that Broadus isn't likely to see in the majority of the Southeast Montana meets, but will see down the road at State.

With Broadus Head Coach Faith Dyrud in charge of FFA students in her capacity as FFA Advisor, the coaching was left to Assistants Stacy Hagedorn and Dalton Oylear, both of whom did a great job taking care of the athletes, Faith told us Monday.

Overall as a team the Broadus boys placed 5th and the girls 6th, with teams from Class B winning the event, and Manhattan Christian the only Class C team in front of Broadus – a good showing for a Broadus team missing a good portion of its members (particularly in the girls).

This week Broadus plans to travel to Miles City on Tuesday for a meet, with the track drying from the weekend storm. Then on Saturday, the team travels to Baker for a meet.

Results from the Laurel competition may be found below:
