Historical Museum opens for summer
June 6, 2019
The Powder River Historical Museum opened for the 2019 summer season on Monday, June 3rd and will remain open through September 27th.
Currently there is a D-Day display in the front window, honoring the Invasion of Normandy, which took place 75 years ago today. The soldiers, sailors, and airmen involved with the invasion are few and far between these days, but their memory lives on in the knowledge that their sacrifices in Northwestern France helped keep us free from Fascism.
Summer hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free! There is a lot to see and the friendly volunteer staff is ready to show you around. Stop by with your ideas for events and displays for the preservation, documentation and presentation of the history of our early days of open range, homesteading and becoming a county to activities of recent times.
There will be events held throughout the summer at the Museum, including an Old West themed Murder Mystery event, on July 27th.
The Museum crew is also looking forward to celebrating the 100th anniversary of our county in July. The Museum's phone number is 436-2977. If closed, you may call for an appointment at 436-2474 or 436-2352.
