Mid-Rivers Cellular Service To End August 1

Earlier this year, Mid-Rivers Communications announced that it had agreed to sell its cellular network assets to Verizon. The sale is now scheduled to close in late July, and Mid-Rivers’ retail cellular operations will officially end on August 1, 2019. All remaining Mid-Rivers cellular customers will need to transition their cellular service to a new provider of their choice prior to August 1.

The companies have been working together to prepare the Mid-Rivers cellular sites for the transition for several months, while awaiting Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval of the wireless license transaction. The FCC consented to assignment of the licenses in early June.

The sale only includes the Cooperative’s cellular network and does not include the cellular customers or other landline or broadband network assets or services.
