Wrestler Spotlight

Dakota Holbrook

February 4, 2021

By Broadus Hawk Wrestling Coach Frankie Schoonover

Dakota Holbrook is a junior at Powder River County District High School. He has participated in wrestling for three years. Coming in as a 160 pound freshman, he had his hands full wrestling older and more experienced athletes. Instead of calling it quits due to his lack of success he focused on improvement. Dakota uses past failures and successes to push himself to improve both mentally and physically.

Dakota thrives off the discipline that is presented to him through the rigorous sport of wrestling. It doesn't matter if it's cutting weight or going through grueling practices, the discipline that is required to be successful in wrestling and maintaining his school work is the part he enjoys.

Dakota chooses to focus on the positive, when asked what he dislikes about wrestling he will say "nothing". Instead he will mention how it will help him in the future with work ethic, time management, and integrity.

After high school, Dakota plans on getting an automotive degree and work in a field he already enjoys.

Dakota would like to give thanks to his coaches and the Minow Family for the opportunities he would have to forgo without their help. He would also like to give a special thanks to his parents who have played a major role in his success on and off the mat.

The Hawks return to the mat this Friday, at Forsyth.
