The Hawk football team hosted Fairview last Friday evening, in a game which started out with cool weather, and eventually spat a few rain drops before eventually coming to an end after the third quarter, when the game was called due to lightning in the area.

Fairview came out hot early in the game, scoring on the second play of the game on a draw play, then picking off a pass on the ensuing Broadus drive to go up by two touchdowns early in the first quarter.

From there, Fairview steadily scored on Broadus, while the Hawks had difficulty in stringing together a drive, with several dropped passes and overthrows on what could've been big plays. "We didn't look like we were ready to play, and Fairview came out ready to win," Broadus Head Coach Ross Randall commented on the game.

Fairview would go up 48-0 by the third quarter, and with a rolling clock Broadus was finally marching down the field and looking close to driving into the end zone at the end of the third quarter. Suddenly, a single lightning strike and roll of thunder crossed the night sky at a fairly close distance, prompting the game to shut down.

The loss to Fairview puts Broadus with a 3-4 overall record, and Fairview now stands at 5-2 overall, and leads the sub-conference at 5-0.

This weekend the Hawks will host Ekalaka in a cross-conference game, taking place at 1 PM on Saturday. The Ekalaka Bulldogs are currently 2-5 overall; Coach Randall expects a good but competitive game.

Currently the Hawks are down two players as they go into their last week of play for the season, Colton Biesheuvel, who suffered a back injury at Lodge Grass, and Solomon Bradley, who is out with a shoulder injury sustained last Friday against Fairview.
