Sponsor A Steps For Charity Team

By PR Extension Office

Do you need incentive to walk? Do your employees walk as part of their jobs? Consider sponsoring a Steps for Charity team. It’s a win, win event designed to promote physical activity AND raise funds for local charities. Each Steps for Charity, four-member team tracks their steps in February and March. Half the team’s registration fee goes directly to the team’s charity, and the other half goes into a pool of money to be split between three charities, which is decided by the three teams that turn in the most steps. There is no age minimum nor age limit for team members.

Powder River Veterinary Clinic, Gone Ropin’ Construction and North Fork Precision are the local businesses who have registered or sponsored teams to-date. In the past, local charities have included Broadus Education Association, St. Vincent de Paul, Powder River Trails and the Broadus Cancer Fund.

This year the hallways at the Powder River District High School are available for walking. Walkers can stroll the halls Monday through Friday early in the morning from 7 till 7:45 am, or in the afternoons from 4 to 6 pm.

Registrations are due Monday, January 31st, to the MSU Extension Office-Powder River County, and the fee is $60 per team. Go to http://www.powerrivertrails.com or call 406-436-2424 to register. Pedometers can be purchased at the Extension Office. The Steps for Charity Challenge is organized by the Powder River Trails and the MSU Extension Office. Let’s WALK.
