The 3rd and 4th Grade Battle of the Books winning team (coached by Marilyn Emmons) of Kaylan Reaves, Senra Gnerer, and Dylan Krantz participated in the Montana State Battle of the Books on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 via Zoom.
They were in the middle of the pack of 11 teams at half-time and showed great knowledge of the 12 books in the Battle list.
The 5th and 6th Grade Team of Reece Emmons, Mesa Flemming, and Tyler Jurica (subbing in for Anna Hagedorn) placed 3rd out of 13 State teams.
They were coached by Ashley Fleming and had a perfect halftime score along with two other teams.
Unfortunately, the 30 second timer was a bit too quick for them in the ninth question and they realized the correct answer about 10 seconds too late.
The top two teams were both schools from Missoula and ended up in overtime to reveal the winning team of Sussex School.
