Nancy Stoddard

Nancy Jo Odonnell was born September 18th, 1936, to G.E. "Casey" and Clara Odonnell in Lafayette, Colorado. She was the second of four children in the Odonnell family. Casey worked in the oil and gas industry and traveled extensively in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. While her parents were away, Nancy stayed with her grandparents. Her grandmother, Blanche Autrey, was a big influence on Nancy. She always fondly remembered her grandmother.

Another influence in Nancy's younger years was her older cousin Duane Autrey. Duane was a big brother of sorts and included Nancy in many adventures.

Upon graduating from high school in Lafayette, Nancy studied at Colorado State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (A&M) (now Colorado State University). She received scholarships and worked while going to school. Nancy majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics. She was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority on campus and stayed in touch with her sorority sisters for many years.

One day, while rushing to class, Nancy quite literally ran into the love of her life. Bert Stoddard was a veterinary student at Colorado A&M. Bert and Nancy were married June 29th, 1957.

Following Bert's graduation from the veterinary program, he and Nancy moved to central Colorado and started a family. They had 3 children while in Colorado: Robbin, Bert, and Brad. Nancy took care of their children and helped Bert with his veterinary practice.

After a few years in Colorado, Bert and Nancy moved their family to Baker, Montana where Bert joined his brother's veterinary practice. After a time in Baker, they decided to move to Broadus and established Powder River Veterinary Clinic.

Nancy helped Bert at the clinic for many years. She started working at the Powder River Nursing Home in the office and eventually became administrator. Nancy served as administrator for many years and enjoyed the interaction with staff and residents. She eventually retired to enjoy her grandchildren and many interests.

Nancy had so many hobbies. She always raised a garden. She was interested in sewing, quilting, reading, cooking, canning, crochet, computers, ...Nancy was involved with many activities in the Broadus community.

She is survived by her husband Bert, brother and sister-in-law Terry and Paula Odonnell, daughter Robbin, son Brad, sister-in-law Teddy Stoddard; Grandchildren Melea (Joe) Sexton, Sam Stoddard (Chris), Kieran Obrien, Ashlea (Jeremy) and Chloe Stoddard.
