Kicking off their season against Plentywood at home on Friday evening, the Broadus Hawk Varsity football team lost by a score of 0-40. With fifteen players on the team for the season, only 12 were suited up due to the need for the mandatory number of practices before game play and other factors, according to Head Coach Brett Emmons. Brett coached for Broadus in the past and now returns to call plays for the team. The Hawks had 75 yards of total offense in the game, while Plentywood's 6'2", 175...

In a pre-season coaches poll of 2C teams, Broadus ranked first in the conference, coming off an undefeated regular season. The team that stopped Broadus in their tracks last year at Divisionals, and went on to win...
Placing ninth out of a field of 36 teams, while beating AA Billings Senior and a variety of Class A schools, the Broadus boys cross country team performed very well in their first meet of the year, last Friday at the Billings Invitational Meet at Amend Park in Yellowstone County. Not to be outdone, the Broadus girls had personal records in their runs, but with only two of the three members running in the meet due to accumulated practices needed to compete, they did not have a team score. Running for the XC team this year are 10 competitors....

We alternate between restaurants for Ladies Lunch Out. We...

Mental health and all of the weight it carries, from depression to anxiety to the ultimate sadness of suicide, remains a grave concern for farmers, ranchers and rural residents. By Tedi Jo Williams The picture at right shows that kindness is a word which perfectly describes Eastern Montana and Northern Wyoming. So that is why Justin Lemke and JW Thrush decided to help a friend by putting on a team roping. On August 27th, well over 60 team ropers showed up at the Biddle Arena to help the Teschers. Dave Tescher was hurt in a vehicle accident almost a year ago. It has been a lot of work in therapy, but he will be home on September 1. However, hard times like these require...

HELENA – Starting August 24, all Montana property tax rebates will be sent by paper check in the mail. To reduce the risk of fraud perpetuated by scam artists, the Montana Department of Revenue removed the option for taxpayers to receive the property tax rebate by direct deposit. The department received applications where applicants entered banking information for direct deposit that does not match banking information in the department’s records. While some of these claims are qualified taxpayers that have changed banks, some are criminals fil...
