There were a total of 127 High School BPA members from area schools including Baker, Colstrip, Forsyth, Plevna, Custer, and Hardin. St. Labre and Lodge Grass did not attend.   • Town Council Discusses Rate Changes On Water, Garbage

    The Broadus Town Council met with Bobbie Shular of Montana Rural Water Systems, Inc. (MRWS) last week to discuss a rate analysis that she completed on the Broadus water system. MRWS is a Great Falls based association providing training, regulatory updates, rate structuring, and technical assistance to Montana entities with drinking water and waste water systems.     By PR Extension Office The 2024 grasshopper prediction map is sobering, according to Powder River Extension Agent Mary Rumph. Much of the county is in the 8-15 grasshoppers per square yard; with a few areas in the "red zone", 15 grasshoppers or more.     The Broadus basketball teams made the 4 hour drive to Scobey over the weekend to play Lustre/Christian and Scobey. Activities Director Mike Richards has been researching the history of Broadus basketball, and indicated that this is the first time Broadus has played Lustre Christian, and the first time Broadus has played basketball in Scobey since the 1981-82 season.     The Broadus School Board held their monthly meeting Monday evening. One major item on the agenda was the layout of an upcoming Comprehensive Needs Assessment, which is required by the Montana Office of Public Instruction. A survey featuring a variety of questions regarding the school will be given to groups including teachers, students, and parents/ community members.     Larry Eugene Jones, peacefully passed away in his beloved Butte Creek Valley, the place he called home, on December 3, 2023. On October 30 Larry suffered a severe aortic dissection and was airlifted to Rapid City where he underwent an extensive repair surgery. He never fully regained consciousness.
